Susan, get in here and clean your room right now!”
“Aw Mom, do I have to? It’s my room anyways!”
Our friend Devin Toma recently gave some tips for how to get more from dances. We thought they were funny. These are not intended to be gospel doctrine, but just something fun to think about.
The two tips are:
1. No yakking

As with the music we listen to, something good like dancing can also be used “for wicked purposes” (“Music and Dancing,” For the Strength of Youth: Fulfilling Our Duty to God, 20). Anytime we are using our bodies to express ourselves, we need to be conscious about what that expression makes people think and feel. This is another major reason why we need to be careful how we dance.
There are lots of reasons why education is so important. One has to do with money–
If education were only about money, it might seem a little shallow and selfish. But education has to do with much more than just temporal things like money, it also has to do with spiritual purposes. Another reason why getting a good education is important is because it will allow us to better serve the Lord in building up His kingdom. President Hinckley explained:
The Lord wants you to train your minds and hands to become an influence for good as you go forward with your lives. And as you do so and as you perform honorably and with excellence, you will bring honor to the Church, for you will be regarded as a man or woman of integrity and ability and conscientious workmanship” (New Era, Jan. 2001).
Why is life so hard?
This is a good question—and it’s a question many people wonder about. Maybe we could start out with this question by looking at a picture—what do you see?
